Code of Conduct and Values Statement

1. Introduction
As a supporter group of the National Trust, the National Trust Seaford Association is committed to promoting and protecting our shared heritage, natural spaces, and historic places. This Code of Conduct and Values Statement sets out the standards of behaviour expected of all our members, volunteers, and representatives.

2. Our Core Values
We are guided by the values of the National Trust:
Inspiration – We share our enthusiasm for nature, history, and culture with our community.
Inclusion – Everyone is welcome. We value diversity and treat one another with respect and kindness.
Sustainability – We care deeply about the environment and act responsibly for future generations.
Integrity – We are honest, transparent, and act in the best interests of our cause.
Collaboration – We support and learn from each other, working together for a greater good.

3. What We Expect from Our Members
As a member or volunteer of the Seaford Association, we ask that you:
• Treat others with courtesy, respect, and fairness at all times.
• Uphold the reputation and mission of the National Trust in all Association activities.
• Follow our constitution, and the policies and guidance issued by the National Trust.
• Avoid personal conflicts of interest and act with transparency.
• Use Association resources (such as funds, venues, or equipment) responsibly and only for approved purposes.
• Contribute to events, meetings, and group discussions in a constructive and inclusive way.

4. A Safe and Inclusive Environment
We are dedicated to creating a safe, welcoming environment for all, regardless of age, background, or ability. To this end, we:
• Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in everything we do.
• Take seriously any concerns related to discrimination, harassment, or abuse.
• Ensure our events and communications are accessible and respectful.

5. Responsible Communication
Whether engaging with others in person, by email, or on social media:
• Be clear, respectful, and mindful of tone.
• Do not make public statements that could harm the reputation of the Seaford Association or the National Trust.
• Use social media to promote positive engagement with our shared mission.

6. Handling Misconduct
If this Code is not followed, the Association may take appropriate action. This may include informal discussion, formal warnings, or in serious cases, suspension or removal of membership. An appeals process will be made available where appropriate.

7. Our Commitment
By being part of the National Trust Seaford Association, each member agrees to support this Code of Conduct and help foster a respectful, enthusiastic, and engaged community.

Review
This policy will be reviewed every three years.
